From Library Journal:
This amusing novel revolves around Sunny, who leaves her seaside California hometown for Paris after high school. There her passionate, hopeless affair with Masefield, who tells her he is a spy, is cut short by a phone call informing her that her mother has sailed away in search of the son who disappeared in a boating accident 15 years ago and that her father has run off with Sunny's best friend. Sunny goes back home alone, where she and her childhood sweetheart, Buster, form a family with little M, her child by Masefieldat least least until Masefield shows up. This is a funny, crazily complicated story about obsessions and unrequited loves; but the melodramatic events are told in a light and ultimately hopeful way, making for an enjoyable and entertaining novel by the author of Incognito, etc. A.M.B. From Publishers Weekly:
An 18-year-old in love with an international spy returns from Paris to find her family greatly changed. Dad has run off with her teenaged friend and Mom has gone off the deep end. "Charming, touching and briskly told, this slim novel begins in farce and is tempered by loss, pathos, grief," said PW.
