M & M and the Halloween Monster - Softcover

Grade 1-2-- Mandy and Mimi are back. This time the two friends are preparing for that delightfully scary time of year--Halloween. They plan their costumes and prime each other with observations of seemingly bizarre happenings that start to occur in their apartment building. Chains rattle on the stairs, red drops of blood appear on the basement floor, and they catch a glimpse of a horrible monster. In a satisfying conclusion, the mystery is revealed and the girls' fears dissolve into relief and happiness as they discover they have gained a new playmate. Mandy and Mimi are bright, likable, and believable characters. Their humorous expressions are appropriate and typical of their age group. Through the high-spirited dialogue, Ross interweaves just the right tone of suspense.
