Mousse and Nut are two dogs who become friends immediately. For a while, everything goes great, but one day little Nut hops on a wall, too high for Mousse. Then Mousse jumps in the lake, but Nut can't swim. Disagreements ensue: whether it's too hot or too cold; who is faster, who is slower; where to play. As tensions rise, there is a falling out. Each dog plays alone until neither can stand it anymore, and they make their way back to each other. The duo plays again but learns an important lesson: they can be together and still do different things. Simmons, the author and illustrator of the popular Daisy Duck books, offers up two more delightful characters, whose actions very much mirror those of her young audience. Looking like animated stuffed animals, fat, rusty-colored Mousse and tiny Nut are utterly charming as they frolic across the well-designed pages.
