Infidelity, blackmail, unrequited love, and sexual perversion are the dirty little secrets that come to light in the staid English village of Raneswood when an amateur actor is found murdered in his home.

About the Author:
Diana Bishop is an AudioFile Earphones Award-winning narrator who has worked extensively in theater, including seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company and also for the Arts Council of Great Britain and the British Council. She has twice been a member of the BBC's Radio Drama Company and has made many television appearances. She is also a prizewinning poet and a writer of short stories and plays for theater and radio.
From Library Journal:
In the small village of Raneswood, the local thespians are producing Romeo and Juliet. The leading roles have been forced upon the recently arrived gardener and handyman, Fred Dyer, and his timid girlfriend, Sharon Sawyer. The townspeople are excited by the casting and are anticipating the production. Brian Hewlett, a houseguest of Malcolm and Frances Chance, recognizes the unmistakable red-headed handyman as acquitted serial killer Jack Benyon. Brian, Malcom, and Frances discuss the probability of Jack Benyon and Fred Dyer being the same person, the methods of the slayings, and why Jack Benyon was acquitted. One afternoon, gunshots are heard and Frances witnesses a red-haired man leaving the scene. Is it Jack Benyon? This intellectual whodunit has more prose than action and won't likely appeal to the bulk of the genre's fans. Purchase only where Ferrars (Skeleton in Search of a Cupboard, Audio Reviews, LJ 2/15/94) is popular.
