From School Library Journal:
Grade 1-4 An irresistible cauldron of 60 riddles for the witching season. On each page, a pithy riddle is paired with a playful black-and-white drawing, and the result is more often hilarious than horrifying. In fact, it is the illustrations, detailed down to witches' warts and monsters' toenails, that revive the deader punch lines. (Some of the riddles can be found in other collections, such as The Monster Riddle Book Scribners, 1978; o.p. by Jane Sarnoff and Reynold Ruffins.) On the whole, the riddles are fresh enough ("What do you call a secondhand werewolf? A wornwolf") and the format unique enough to merit adding this book to the riddle shelf. Lois Kimmelman, formerly at Forest Ridge School District, Oak Forest, Ill.
