Founded in 1998, Girls Write Now (GWN) is the first organization in the United States with a writing and mentoring model exclusively for girls. From young women exploring writing to seasoned professionals practicing their craft every day, Girls Write Now is a community of women writers dedicated to providing the guidance, support and opportunities for high school girls to develop their creative, independent voices, and write their way to a better future. 100% of GWN's seniors graduate and move on to college - bringing with them awards, scholarships, new skills, and a new sense of confidence. Girls Write Now has been distinguished by The President s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities as one of the nation's top 15 after school arts and humanities-based programs.
Our 2011 Anthology, Opening Lines, was honored as an Outstanding Book of the Year & with an Independent Voice Award from the Independent Publisher Book Awards, as an Anthology Finalist from the National Indie Excellence Awards, and as a Wild Card Honorable Mention from the New York Book Festival.

"Girls Write Now consistently produces some of the most uplifting, original work I've seen. They have a way of reaching into the invisible city and making visible what is so quintessential to the human experience, particularly of growing up female in New York." --Courtney E. Martin, author of Do It Anyway: The New Generation of Activists
"REMIX is an amazing collection of stories and poems and essays. Vibrant, varied, heartfelt and true, each piece resounds with authenticity. There can be no better testament to the richness of the mentor-mentee writing relationship than this beautiful collection." --Kate Christensen, author of The Astral
