Gr 3-6--This overview begins with a brief definition of digital technology and then takes a cursory look at the different applications it has in our lives. The book is organized by category--entertainment, communications, work, home, and cars. The technologies covered include compact discs (all varieties), telephones, televisions, watches, and cameras. Cutting-edge technology such as DVD (digital videodiscs), HDTV (high-definition television), and global-positioning systems are included as well. There is not enough information here for reports, but the book will intrigue browsers. The full-color photographs on every page mainly show how people use the equipment, with very little emphasis on how it works.
