About the Author:

Joan Burton was introduced to the joys of hiking as a very young child and in turn has introduced her children along with many Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts to the great outdoors. An accomplished Cascade climber and author of several magazine articles on outdoor subjects, Burton lives in Seattle, Washington.
