Janet Holmes has received numerous awards for her poetry, in addition to fellowships from the Bush Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, and the Minnesota State Arts Board. Her first book, The Physicist at the Mall, received the Anhinga Prize for 1993, and her 1998 book The Green Tuxedo was winner of The Ernest Sandeen Prize from the University of Notre Dame Press. She lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, with her husband, poet and fiction writer Alvin Greenberg.
