About the Author:
Author:
Frank Finale has more than four hundred poems and essays published in more than one hundred different books, journals, and magazines. He is the author of the critically acclaimed, regional bestsellers To The Shore Once More, Volumes I and II and three beloved children s books, A Gull s Story, Parts 1-3. He has also co-edited two acclaimed poetry anthologies: Under A Gull s Wing and The Poets of New Jersey.

Frank is a graduate of Ohio State University and received a Master of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1976. He taught elementary school for thirty-eight years in the Toms River Regional School District in New Jersey. During his time as an educator, he received numerous awards and was named to the State of New Jersey s Governor s Teacher Recognition Program.

Frank was one of the founding editors of the poetry journal Without Halos (1983-1995) and was poetry editor (1996-2012) of the new renaissance, an international, prize winning literary magazine of ideas and opinions, emphasizing literature and the arts.

Frank is a regular essayist for Jersey Shore Magazine and has been widely published in hundreds of magazines and journals including The Baltimore Review; Blue Unicorn; Chelsea; The Christian Science Monitor; The Georgia Review; Journal of New Jersey Poets; LIPS; Long Shot; The Long Story; Middlesex: A Literary Journal; Negative Capability; The New York Quarterly; The Paterson Literary Review; Poet Lore; and Sensations among others. His essay A Walk Along The Beach, appeared on the State of New York's Regents High School Examination in English (August 2010), and several of his poems have been nominated for Pushcart Press prizes.

His poems and essays have been anthologized in numerous books including A Celebration of Cats; A Loving Voice II: A Caregiver s Book of More Read-Aloud Stories For The Elderly; Anthology of Magazine Verse & Yearbook of American Poetry (various editions 1985-1997); The Best of Reminisce; Blood To Remember: American Poets On The Holocaust (first edition); Dear Winter; First Light: Poems, Stories And Essays of The Winter Holiday Season; Howl of Sorrow; Identity Lessons: Contemporary Writing About Learning To Be American; Italian American Writers On New Jersey; Life On The Line: Selections On Words & Healing; Movieworks; Palisades, Parkways & Pinelands; Peace Is Our Profession: Poems And Passages of War Protests; Shore Stories; Teaching Poetry In High School; Tree Magic; and Tree Stories: A Collection of Extraordinary Encounters among others.

Frank Finale regularly gives readings of his work throughout New Jersey. Born in 1942, he currently lives in Bayville at the Jersey Shore.

Illustrator:
Margie Moore grew up in the seaside town of Belmar, New Jersey.

In creating the art for this picture book, she was able to draw upon her childhood memories of beautiful summer days along the Shore and the interesting creatures she encountered there.

In 2001, she illustrated "Count The Ways, Little Brown Bear" by Jonathan London (Dutton Children's Books).

Ms. Moore still lives at the Jersey Shore with her husband and three daughters, Kelly, Jessica, and Bridget.
