Winner of the Midwest Book Award for Commercial Fiction, Greater Trouble in the Lesser Antilles is the vivid tale of Captain Brian, a part-time sailor/philosopher and full-time hedonistic hero in the paradisiacal Caribbean. When his friend Leif the Thief is found dead at the bottom of a cistern, the much younger, seductive Billie insists that they team up (in more ways than one) to solve the crime. Meanwhile, a federal agent and a local constable make it their business to complicate Captain Brian's carefree existence, driving him to consider leaving beautiful Flamingo Bay forever.

About the Author:
Charles Locks was born and raised in St. Paul, MN. Few of the skills he perfected in the US Marine Corps during fifteen months of service in Vietnam translated to civilian life, so he majored in English literature at Macalester College. Locks owned and operated Lucy's Restaurant on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, where he lived for several years and met the characters that populate Greater Trouble in the Lesser Antilles. He was a co-contributor to Cass Gilbert, Life and Work: Architect of the Public Domain, published by W.W. Norton in 2001.
Review:
"...[a] collection of eccentric characters and madcap happenings...Locks, through Captain Brian, draws a vivid picture in intelligent, finished prose." — Minneapolis Star Tribune

"...a page-turning race to the finish..." — Minneapolis Observer Quarterly

"Charles Locks gives readers a reason to come out of the cold with his mystery novel Greater Trouble in the Lesser Antilles." — The Villager

St. Paul resident Charles Locks has signaled his arrival in the land of Carl Hiassen, Tim Dorsey, James W. Hall and Les Standiford with Greater Trouble in Lesser Antilles, a story with the kind of murder and romance that my customers can’t get enough of." Mitchell Kaplan, owner of Books and Books, Coral Gables, Florida, and former President of American Booksellers Association.

Charles Locks’ smart, clean prose sails through the shark-filled waters of paradise and sinks more than a few whodunit clichés along the way.” Chuck Logan, author of Homefront

Locks takes the blue, blue waters of the Caribbean, adds murder and romance, then mixes it to a froth. A killer of a drink.” Mary Logue, poet, and author of Poison Heart
