Inner Peace for Busy People is the perfect book for anyone who feels overwhelmed by the pressures of work, finances, children, and other modern-day stressors. We really have to ask ourselves why we've allowed ''busyness'' to become a badge of honor and a jaw-clenching form of competition in our society. Slavesto phones, beepers, e-mails, faxes, piles of snail mail, congested traffic, and pushy telemarketers who call during dinner, many of us are also trying to balance the demands of family and career. As a result, we often feel squeezed out of our own lives, and unable to extend sufficient kindness and careto our loved ones. The paradox of this century is that we Americans are wealthier than ever before, yet we're more stressed, depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed than at any time in our history. We have very little peace of mind. To help rectify this situation, Joan Borysenko has written 52 inspirational yet practical essays that will help you create and maintain a sense of inner peace. With a little common sense, you can learn to understand and tame the busy workings of your mind, live alife filled with compassion and love, and develop more wisdom and creativity. You'll see that you don't have to be a monk devoted to hours of special practice to walk your life's journey with graciousness and joy. All that is required is to pay attention, choose wisely, express purpose and passion, laugh often, and live with a fierce commitment to honesty and kindness. Through stories encompassing spirituality, science, and humor, you'll be given easy-to-learn skills to help you change your attitude and regain your inner peace - one week at a time! Remember: Life is a precious gift to be savored, not an endless series of chores to complete. Every day brings a choice: to practice stress or to practice peace. Why not do yourself and your loved ones a favor ... and choose the latter!
