About the Author:
David Roberts worked in publishing for over thirty years before devoting his energies to writing full time. He is married and divides his time between London and Wiltshire.
From Booklist:
It is early 1939, and Lord Edward Corinth has been tasked by his masters at MI5 to find out the identity of Der Adler, an assassin who may be targeting Winston Churchill. His search takes him to Cliveden, the home of the wealthy Astors. Edward doesn’t know it at first, but his fiancée, journalist Verity Browne, has been asked by the Communist Party (of which she is a member) to get close to the American ambassador, Joseph Kennedy, who just happens to be a guest at Cliveden. Murder and mayhem quickly ensue, and it’s only the quick thinking of Edward and Verity that keep both of them from being added to the list of victims. This is the ninth in the Corinth/Browne series, and it’s a real corker. Roberts juggles fictional and factual characters nimbly, seamlessly inserting his two leads into real events. Roberts’ fans will need no encouragement to seek out this new installment, but historical-mystery buffs unfamiliar with the series should be steered toward it with great enthusiasm.
