About the Author:
Always controversial and amusing, Harry Harris is the Chief Group Football Writer of the Express Group Newspapers. After thirty years of investigative reporting on football he is now the UK's foremost football journalist. He has written numerous previous football books including Ruud Gullit: Portrait of a Genius, Chelski: the Abramovich Revolution and Wayne Rooney: the Story of Football's Wonderkid. His breaking of the news that the FA had offered the post of England coach in succession to Sven-Goran Eriksson to Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in April 2006 set the news agenda for the entire country for weeks. It was merely one of a long line of Harris exclusives including revealing that Terry Venables was receiving irregular payments from Spurs, Paul Merson's drinking and gambling habits, Roy Keane's sensational exit from the 2002 World Cup and the Glazer takeover of Manchester United.
Review:
"Harris treats the back pages in just the same way that news reporters treat the front page - as a place to surprise, shock, amuse and enthuse." Press Gazette "I believe that he digs harder and more successfully than anyone else." Patrick Collins "Harris's series on the Bung and Betting stories were examples of popular sports journalism at its best." John Humphreys "Harry Harris scooped the pool with an old-fashioned and tenacious investigation and news exclusive on the murkier side of British football." British Press Award Judges"
