Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine dj. Illustrated by Jan B. Balet (illustrator). First Edition. [beautiful copy, with no discernible wear to book; jacket is also very nice, with just a bit of wear along the right edge of the front panel and at the corners; the "Slotties" page (laid in, not bound in) is completely intact, with none of the pieces having ever been removed]. (Slottie Library) Series (color illustrations) A "Slottie Library" book (the 14th in the series), based on an old American folk tale, about "the most amazing and exciting things [that] happen at Bean Blossom Hill when handsome young dreamer Punkin Johnny buys three magic pumpkin seeds from the old peddler." (Essentially this is the tale of Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater.) This book is in exceptionally nice condition -- not just because the Slottie page itself (a single laid-in cardboard page with die-cut pieces designed to be removed and played with) is completely intact, but because this copy shows no signs of ever having been handled by an actual child. This is a later entry in the Slottie Library series, which was discontinued after three subsequent volumes (the last being "The Snow Queen" in 1960).
