Hardcover. Condition: VG+. No Jacket. Charles Robinson (illustrator). Not stated. "The Rubaiyyat." needs no introduction, but this copy requires a detailed description. The red mock leather front cover has extravagant gilt titles with exquisite palace and garden illustration also in bright gilt and can be rated VG+, the spine is lightly worn and sunned as is the top half of the back board with a narrowing extension to the lower edge adjacent the spine, with a small area of surface wear top corner, with a much smaller wear mark lower front corner, all corners lightly bumped with trace of wear. Plain e/papers lightly browned, text block otherwise excellent, no inscriptions. All pages from and including the half title have an ornate golden border of intricate Eastern design. The title page carries a mono decoration similar to the front illustration with gold coloured titles above. The four tipped-in colour paintings by Charles Robinson, including the frontis, are in excellent condition with light creasing to lower inner corners. This edition of 94 pages repeats the introduction of Laurence Houseman which appeared in the 1859 printing, translation by Edward Fitzgerald. Soft Cover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Jessie M. King; Charles Robinson, et al. (illustrator). [Presumed Second Edition]. Presumed second edition. Soft cover chapbook, (3 x 6 inches), 36 unnumbered pages, in second variant cover of Japanese vellum wraps with yapp edges over card, contents printed on art paper, with the Glasgow-born Scottish Graphic Artist Jessie M. King's (1875-1949) line-drawn cover illustration in gold, blue, orange and black, with the artist's signature vertically down the design's lower right corner. Also has King's artwork upon the double endpapers, printed in three colors, of a girl dancing on a hillside, also with similar signature to wraps. This is a RARE mis-binding of the contents, given the text is for a completely different booklet, selected verses from the love poetry of The Rubyaiat of Omar Khayyam. Also has black and white halftone illustrations by the Artist Charles Robinson. Condition: Fine. Wraps Fine. King bibliographer Colin White presumed the mis-binding was due to an inattentive apprentice at the printer's plant. (A Guide to the Printed Works of Jessie M.
