Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Book Club Edition. 5th printing of the Viking U.S. hardcover edition from January 1986 in a book club jacket. This copy is SIGNED by the late Robertson Davies on a McClelland and Stewart Publishers bookplate affixed to the half title page. No inscription. Creme-colored paper boards with black cloth binding and gold titles along the spine. A round book club slug is present at the bottom edge of the back board. The jacket is not priced, and the ISBN number found on the back panel of the trade jacket is replaced by Printed in U.S.A. At the time of listing, this was the only autographed copy of any American edition of this title listed on the site. What's Bred in the Bone was a Booker Prize Finalist. This example is remarkably well-preserved. The book has sharp corners; the exposed page edges are clean; and there are no markings by a previous owner or retailer. The jacket is bright and unaffected by the sun. Typical of the thin, flimsy jacket, the heel and crown of the spine have softened, show small tears and flaking. There is a small notch missing from the heel of the jacket's spine. Short, closed tear in the bottom edge of the front panel, at the fore-edge. Wear to the top and bottom edges of both panels at the hinges and a horizontal crease along the top edge of the front and back panels. A few unobtrusive snags to the top edge of both flaps. Despite these blemishes, this is a pleasing copy of a scarcely signed American edition that looks great in its mylar sleeve. Also available from this bookseller are autographed Canadian first printings of The Lyre of Orpheus and The Cunning Man. Canadian orders will be charged GST. Signed by Author(s).
