Stated Second World Printing Edition bound in green paper covered boards with a tan cloth spine with green and brown stamping, in a price clipped dust jacket with light soiling and toning, and wear/closed tears to the edges. There are a few small, faint foxing spots to the spine, and a small tear to the head of the spine. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and clean. This book is Signed/Inscribed by Jesse Stuart on the front free end-page, with a nice inscription to a man he used to teach with. From the library of U.S. Navy Captain Herbert Goetz (1934-2020) who was hired by Jesse Stuart in 1957 to teach at McKell High School in Greenup County, Kentucky. The two became great friends and stayed connected until Jesse Stuart's death in 1984. Captain (and Navy Chaplain) Goetz was the model for "Otto" in "Mr. Gallion's School.".
